Hi, Dr. Lovett, Lovett Family Chiropractic and Wellness Center.

Every so often, people will ask me why they keep getting back pain in the same area where they’ve always had it, right? It seems like a consistent pattern that comes for a little while, then disappears for a little while, and then comes back in pretty much the exact same area.

There are really a few reasons.

Bad Habits Can Continue to Cause Problems

The first reason why people continue to have problems in the same areas is that they have bad habits that they continue doing. Things like the way they sit, stand, sleep, and exercise.

A lot of times, those can put abnormal and uneven stresses on our spine. That can continue to cause problems even after the pain is gone; people just don’t realize it.

The Underlying Problem Wasn’t Resolved

Next is that people don’t really resolve the underlying problem. They start feeling better and think, “Oh, this is great. I feel so much better. The problem is taken care of.”

Well, that’s kind of like saying, “Oh, my teeth don’t hurt. I don’t need to brush or floss my teeth anymore until they hurt again.”

That doesn’t make any sense, right? We’ve got to continue to brush and floss our teeth, and we’ve got to continue to take care of our spine.

Continuing Exercises, Adjustments, and Therapy

Last, and certainly not least, is that people don’t continue with the exercises, adjustments, and therapy that they were getting, right? They think, “Okay, great. I was feeling better. I completed this treatment plan. I’ll just come back when I hurt again.”

Really, what we need to do is continue those things.

Personally, I don’t have neck or back pain—or very, very rarely. I also get adjusted at least once a week to keep my body tuned up. Therefore, I feel really good, but I also reap the benefits of getting adjusted.

Things like, you know, I can digest food easily. I can focus easily. I sleep really well. I can work out as hard as I want to because I continue to get my adjustments even when I feel great.

Addressing the Underlying Cause and Patterns

What we do here at Lovett Family Chiropractic is work on developing a plan that addresses the underlying cause and underlying patterns to really fix your back pain and get it taken care of. Then, we give you exercises and therapies to stabilize your spine and make sure that we continue to stay healthy.

I hope this video is helpful. If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out, and we look forward to helping you feel your best.
